klpac presents
RUBY MOON
by Matt Cameron
Life appears to be picture perfect in Flaming Tree Grove. At least until 6-year old Ruby Moon sets off to visit her grandmother and is never seen again. When an ominous parcel arrives on her parents’ doorstep, Sylvie and Ray Moon are prompted to call on their enigmatic and eccentric neighbours in an attempt to solve the mystery of their daughter’s disappearance. But life behind the average suburban front door is not what it seems. What happened to Ruby? Will she ever be found? Did she ever exist?
Every child’s fear and every parent’s nightmare comes to life in this fractured fairytale from the dark heart of suburbia is directed by klpac’s Co Associate Artistic Director Christopher Ling (DEAD MAN’S CELL PHONE, THE LAST FIVE YEARS, KISS OF THE SPIDER WOMAN) and features a soundscape and original music by Onn San (THE SECRET LIFE OF NORA, EVERWORLD, EPOMANIA).
“… a densely layered, evocative and richly imagined work … a wonderful demonstration of the endlessly protean possibilities of theatre, of its capacity to create something genuinely new, … something also unsettling weird, fascinating and moving.” = The Age, Australia
