Description : The Perhentian Island Challenge is BACK!
The Perhentian Island Challenge (PIC) is a weekend-getaway adventure race that will feature two levels of outdoor-adventure racing on the beautiful island of Pulau Perhentian, Terengganu, Malaysia. Running for the 8th year, the Perhentian Island Challenge 2011 will be held from 14th to 16th October 2011.
PIC is jointly organized by the State Government of Terengganu and managed by PIC Adventure Sdn Bhd. Every year, races vary and have included trail running, orienteering, kayaking, swimming and various obstacle courses. Participants are invited to enjoy and endure various courses in their choice of either Elite or Novice categories. PIC was first held in 2004 with only 103 registered participants. The participants have since increased greatly to over 500 in 2010.
Being more than just an adventure race, PIC introduces participants and visitors to the paradise with its pristine beaches and crystal waters, vast marine life, marine activities and of course local culture and cuisine of the villagers. For the locals, PIC is an annual kampong celebration bringing together the local community with the tourism industry.
