Malaysia is privileged to once again host this annual event which has become a permanent feature of the Technical Consultancy Development Programme for Asia and the Pacific (TCDPAP).Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB) in collaboration with Professional Services Development Corporation (PSDC) supported by Association of Consulting Engineers Malaysia (ACEM) and in association with International
Federation of Consulting Engineers/FIDIC Member Associations of Asia Pacific (FIDIC/ASPAC) are honoured and privileged to cordially invite all member states to meet in Kuala Lumpur for TCDPAP Conference 2011.

With the theme: Sustainability in the Globalized World, this conference aims to establish an action-oriented networking and knowledge sharing session drawing on the participation from senior government officials, industry captains, society leaders and academic experts across various professional disciplines.

This conference provides the platform for meeting of brilliant minds over a 2-day period leading to creative, innovative and pragmatic approaches towards sustainability.Numerous national-level experts from member countries of TCDPAP and ASPAC will be presenting the technical papers/case studies/success stories and hands-on examples on new approaches, solutions and mechanisms to

achieve sustainable development.

Sustainability is advocated by both the governments and the private sector in tandem with their pursuit of economic development. In Asia and the Pacific region a growing interest in sustainability is evidenced by the establishment of “Green Initiatives” in Bangladesh, China, India, Indonesia, Iran, Korea, Malaysia, Myanmar, Nepal, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Thailand and Vietnam.

In line with these initiatives, it is certainly time for a new world order for sustainable development to become the norm rather than the exception. There should be in place a concerted and conscious effort for sustainability to ensure the present generation meets their current needs without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.

Towards this end, a review of key achievements, emerging trends and the way forward on sustainable development will be examined and deliberated with the view by member countries. The Conference is a must for all professionals involved in setting policies and the future directions for a sustainable world in this era of globalization.
